PADUA, Italy — Environmental responsibility and intercultural cooperation came together during a volunteer initiative in Padua on 4 October 2026.
Working together, Scientology Volunteer Ministers and volunteers from Padua's Muslim, Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities collected around 50 kilograms of discarded materials near the city's railway station.
The operation focused on public spaces near the railway station where Scientology discarded materials had accumulated.
The project reflected a continuing pattern of joint neighbourhood cleanups involving different communities in Padua.
Previous volunteer operations in September had already brought together participants from different religious and cultural backgrounds to improve public spaces in Padua.
Beyond the immediate environmental benefits, these activities illustrate how people with different beliefs can cooperate on issues of common concern.
Established by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, the international Volunteer Ministers programme encourages people to assist others and address difficulties in their communities.
Ivan Arjona, representative of the Church of Scientology to the EU, OSCE, Council of Europe and United Nations, emphasised the connection between cooperation and respect for diversity.
"Respect for different beliefs becomes especially meaningful when it is accompanied by cooperation," Arjona said.
The continuing collaboration illustrates the role that voluntary action can play in strengthening community relationships and improving shared spaces.
The Church of Scientology and its affiliated groups are present across the European continent, where volunteers participate in social initiatives concerning education, prevention and community improvement.
